a kentucky we build together

Iva Markicevic Daley
KY State House - District 99

I'm a mother who knows what it’s like to navigate prenatal care without insurance, have to drive 40 minutes to the nearest rural hospital with severe abdominal pain at 8 months pregnant, and balance full time-motherhood with full-time work because my family cannot afford childcare or survive on a single paycheck. From my almost five years now as a healthcare advocate, I know that my experiences are not uncommon and even tame compared to what so many other families experience. As the wife of a combat veteran, I have also seen firsthand the mental and physical impacts of service and the lengthy, sometimes confusing, process our veterans have to navigate to get the support they need. My identities and experiences have instilled in me a deep commitment to meeting people where they are, listening to their stories, and prioritizing community care. It is this commitment that led me to decide to run for office and that shapes each decision I make on the campaign trail.

I BELIEVE IN…

ACCESS

Healthy communities are communities that have access to

  • medical, dental, and vision providers;

  • affordable healthcare;

  • clean air and water; and

  • reliable broadband & cell service.

Preventive health is cheaper than treatment or emergency care. Eastern Kentuckians deserve policies that put this care—whether in person or via telehealth—in our backyard.

STABILITY

Safe communities are communities in which residents

  • earn a living wage;

  • can afford their homes;

  • don’t have to choose between groceries, utilities, and medication; and

  • can rely on safety nets when they fall on hard times.

Economic hardship significantly increases substance abuse and crime rates. When people can afford the basics, desperation’s grip loosens.

OPPORTUNITY

Thriving communities are communities that

  • offer free childcare and Pre-K so families have more choice;

  • have fully funded, quality public schools;

  • value both colleges and trade schools; and

  • invest in small businesses.

Education and entrepreneurship move communities forward, but they are becoming increasingly out of reach. It’s time to take another look at, and adjust, our priorities.

Invest in a kentucky that works for all of us

I believe that big money has no place in politics, so I do not accept corporate PAC dollars. But a campaign still needs money…when you give today, you are supplying our campaign with rack cards for door knocking, yard signs, supplies for community events and fundraisers, tabling fees, and strategic and fundraising support so I can focus on connecting with voters like you.
